Some Background on Chakra Chai
For today's edition of "Together Talks" campaign, KLS had the fortune to interview Chakra Chai with Founder, Hoda Mohajerani. A California based impact company founded on the Ayurvedic principle of the Interconnectedness of all Life. The beginning of Chakra Chai occurred during a meditation Hoda was experiencing. Tragically she had lost her newborn son, Arta. Per her mission statement she explained, "A year after the death of my newborn son, Arta, my body, mind and soul were a mess. I had a broken heart, adrenal burnout, chronic gut and colon problems. I was not in my body, nor was my body in a fit state to house my soul. The only aspect of myself that kept me going was my Will."
During this meditation session Hoda explained the most incredible experience, ", I heard Arta whisper the words 'Chakra Chai'. I wondered 'What is this and what am I to do with it?' The answers began to unfold with the greatest tenderness and compassion."
Hoda explained how she sat with this incredible message trying to process it. She came to the realization that she needed to prepare herself to undertake the responsibility of this opportunity, what she called such a tremendous gift. And with that...
Chakra Chai was a TRIUMPH born out of tragedy.
As Hoda mentions to close out the company's mission statement, "It is an honour to be in service to this mission and truly my wish that every sip brings strength, balance and wholeness to everyone who needs it."
The meditation event with her passed son, Arta, occurred in January of 2018. In April of 2019, Hoda had the foundation laid for Chakra Chai. However, the Pandemic was around the corner, which put some initial delays on the product launch. Ultimately Chakra Chai was launched and came to market in July 2021.
Hoda mentioned that the challenges come from educating consumers on being a forward company in the regenerative space. While their primary demographic are aware, it is the objective of increasing exposure and awareness to expand the market. They attempt to achieve this through taking systematic approach of increasing demand through education. She credited their organic growth due to their resourceful and strategic moves, but also acknowledged how important their partnerships have been. Their overall goal is to increase their online presence having content available at a consumer's finger tips. Bringing educational pieces that teach, inform, and engage their potential audience.
Hoda reflected on the ability to create this network that is supported from the interconnectedness. Meeting with farmers that they source from and the ability watch the transformations and impact they have on individuals, families, businesses, and communities. She referred to it as a sacrifice, but the choices they have made are risks they understand but continue to take for the greater benefit. Hoda is hoping that Chakra Chai becomes the "poster child" for the new age of regenerative companies.

The culture is described as "heart-centered consciousness" by Hoda. The original nature of the organization was to create a vehicle for every single members' personal transformation. She explained that when operating with intelligence of the heart, automatically make decisions that shape the kind of futures we want to have. Transparency thus is a cornerstone for Chakra Chai along with integrity.
Both of those two qualities lead to their Seven Causes Impact Model.
This model is transparent for customer to see how funds are dispersed. Hoda enlightened us that they have created the intersection of social and environmental impact. Customers love the visibility and the true intentions behind the integrity of Chakra Chai. She also explained that the 7 different points of entry for customers provides a gateway for those interested in charity to start larger conversation.
The vision is to create exponential impact at scale.
Brand from the Beyond
The core strength of Chakra Chai is their mission is greater and beyond any individual parts. It is truly a vehicle for personal and business and planetary transformation. They are creating a systems based interface. Chakra Chai isn't just supplying products to heal an individual customer, but instead instilling that the choice to use their products is working all the way up to the origins of the supply chain. Their tagline is “heal yourself heal the world”.
Chakra Chai is providing dual purpose, an option for people and planet that is truly healing. We asked Hoda a moment that stands out to her and she explained, "When sampling the product people will try it and start crying. Then they say things like, 'I don’t know what is happening to me, but something is happening to me.' That is the exact moment I know we have reached them."
But the reach doesn't just stop with the amazing product, they want to create a new way of doing business. A focus on collaborations, partnerships, and symbiotic partnership amongst all players. Equal parts, motivated to creating the biggest impact, for the greater good.
Hoda shared with us that a friend once told her, "Every moment in life has led to this one. It is true." When she was first given the message and opportunity to create Chakra Chai she was overwhelmed, but excited. She realized the opportunity she was presented and she cherished it. She shared she had to continually return to origin point, inner space, in which she received the original mandate and continue to surrender in believing in the fate to lead this mission.
We inquired about a moment that brings joy to Hoda, but instead she mentioned it was the ability to grow and learn. "In order to move authentically and effectively towards building regenerative futures, the first order is to unlearn. Process of unlearning sometimes shows doubt or fear or exhaustion. We can't always see a way out, but recalling and observing our body and mind's reaction in those moments will show us a new path. Despite adversity everything will work out."
Part of the beauty of Chakra Chai is the team construction. As mentioned, the company strives for personal transformation. Hoda alluded to the ability to work with her team, while also interacting with customers, and receiving reflections from their community. Knowing that they are contributing to consumers making nourishing choices for their life is truly fulfilling for the Chakra Chai team. Hoda said the ride has been incredible and that we can't forget to "laugh and dance even though those who don't hear the music think we are mad."
Piece of Advice
Our conversation with Hoda ended with two pieces of advice.
1- "Ask only the most important question, 'Who am I?' In asking this, inevitably it will lead to who I am not. That question will hopefully lead us down a path of deeper questions, therefore bringing us to a crossroads of 'what outcomes do I wish to create?"
2- "When you come across naysayers, ask them how they would do it better. Now is a time for collaborations and mentorships. The era of dead-end critiques are antiquated. Those who are your tribe will help and support you and I promise your tribe is out there."

Our precise and reliable effort.
We handle every shipment with the exact same process. It does not matter if you move one shipment a year or ten per day, you will receive the same level of customer service from us. When we started this company, we had one goal in mind, treat every shipment like it was our own. With our vast knowledge of the industry, we understood what a customer would want from a communication standpoint. We applied that process to be the standard here at KLS. Our reliability and being able to depend on our consistency is why we have such long-standing relationships with our clients.
Every shipment in our industry starts with a quote. We are firm believers that time is money, thus we strive to have quotes back in a 5-10 minute reply time for LTL and FTL, any FCL quotes are at the mercy of the carriers getting back to us. For LTL we have the flexibility to quote both off of NMFC and also Density depending on the carrier. Utilizing our services, you’re allowing us to use our expertise to class your freight accordingly to ensure we are providing the best rate we possibly can.
Once a quote has been submitted and a client chooses to proceed with KLS handling the arrangement of the shipment our full process begins. We create the BOL that will be used for the shipment. If it is a new location for our system, we will obtain all the important/special details (reference numbers, contact details, shipping hours, closed for lunch, dock/doors, etc.). We meticulously build every detail into our software for all future shipments involving that location. After we have both locations built and necessary reference numbers have been applied we will tender the shipment to the carrier. We use this method because it provides us a real time pickup number from the carrier to obtain updates prior to pickup. Our staff will either email the BOL directly to you or to the shipper (at your request) the minute after the tender has been accepted by the carrier. LTL carriers require a 2 hour window prior to close time in order to schedule it for a same-day pickup attempt.
The following morning you’ll receive an email from us. It will either provide the reason the pickup was missed (driver’s trailer filled up, driver missed the close time, truck broke down, shipper said no freight, etc.) or if the pickup was successful you will receive the PRO (tracking) number from us, along with the eta for delivery. Our staff will track it throughout the duration of transit and advise if anything happens that will alter the estimated delivery date. The day the shipment delivers we will email you with confirmation and the POD (Proof of Delivery), should you require it.
Your shipment has been quoted, scheduled, picked up, and delivered. The next step is waiting for the carrier to invoice us and make sure the rate matches up. If it does, we close out the invoice from the carrier in our system and automatically your invoice is created and sent to the requested party at your company. In the event the carrier has an additional charge on their invoice “Variance”, we will never send you an invoice with an additional charge without first identifying you of the charge.
Let us repeat, NEVER WILL WE JUST BILL OUT AN EXTRA CHARGE WITHOUT YOU BEING NOTIFIED.
You are our customer, we represent you. Should the carrier provide an extra charge on an invoice, “Lift gate, additional weight, reclass, detention, etc.) We notify you of the charge via email first. Second, within that email we identify what is required should you choose to dispute the charge. Again our goal is to honor your request, if you want to dispute, we will dispute. During a dispute we will provide you updates every step along the way. Once a dispute is closed out, whether it is approved or rejected, then we will invoice you as the invoice has been resolved.
For reference, our company only had 6.2% of all shipments go to dispute in 2022 and we successfully won 91% of those disputes on behalf of our customers.
This is our process for every single shipment you move with us. We don’t cut corners, we don’t hide from difficult situations. We believe in being available, honest, and transparent. We don’t ever want to tell you that a shipment is lost, damaged, misrouted, but it is our duty to notify you the second we find out something has gone wrong. We hate to present bad news, but it is part of the job. What you can guarantee is that we will work a shipment all the way through and turn over every stone until we get a resolution for our clients.
Our core business is LTL and FTL. Within these options we have options for both dry and refrigerated/frozen. We also offer FCL/Drayage options. Our company as a 3PL has nationwide options and services clients across the US.
Let’s breakdown our services more in-depth
LTL: Standard and Guaranteed CFS (Imports & Exports) Tradeshows Hazmat Anything that is on a pallet can be moved LTL. Typically LTL is up to 10 pallets, but the sweet spot for a carrier is 6-8 pallets at most for an individual shipment. LTL quotes are good between 5-30 days depending on the carrier. LTL can be quoted either via NMFC or density to determine the class (we do this for you).
Volume: Anything over 10-12’ of space in the truck is the technical rule for a volume shipment. When we run a quote for you we will determine if it qualifies for volume and provide you a rate if available. Volume moves allow you to get a reduced rate for larger shipments. The caveat to volume shipments it the quotes are only valid for 3-7 days and they move on capacity between terminals. If a terminal is backed up they will move their LTL freight first before the volume freight, which can lead to longer transit times for volume moves.
FTL/Dedicated/Expedited: 53’ Dry and Reefer 26’ Box trucks with lift gate Sprinter Van The main difference for FTL vs LTL is space and transit time. For standard pallets you can fit either 26 or 30 pallets in a 53’ dry van. The other main difference is transit time, for FTL each day counts in the transit time, whereas LTL does not count the day of pickup, weekends, or holidays in their transit time.
