KLS is thrilled to feature another successful business in the continuation of our “Together Talks” campaign. This week we had the pleasure of interviewing Thomas Gennarelli, Vice President of Trucking and Transportation for Timber Products. Read on to learn how this family-owned business has grown into a thriving corporation that employs over 1200 people.


Some Background on Timber Products and TP Logistics and Trucking

Timber Products was founded back in 1918 and has been family-owned for 4 generations. They manufacture a variety of wood products via 8 different manufacturing facilities across Northern California, Southern Oregon, Michigan, and Mississippi. Their target markets include: kitchen and bath, furniture, retail fixtures and displays, and architectural millwork.

We also were able to learn about TP Logistics and Trucking which is another company under the Timber Products umbrella. TP Logistics and Trucking is headquartered in Southern Oregon with satellite locations in Georgia and Indiana.


Interview with Thomas Gennarelli, VP of Trucking and Transportation

Thomas has been in his current role for approximately four years, after spending over a decade in the industry throughout his career. Since he took over this position, the company has seen its trucking division double. The business has continued to grow despite dealing with a pandemic. Outside of their impeccable customer service, they attribute it to their marketing efforts, company culture, and reliability.

Timber Products markets its business primarily through trade shows, but they’ve also been featured in print publications such as Lumber World. Ultimately, though, their product speaks for itself. They are a specialty wood manufacturer, as opposed to a mass producer of wood products. This distinction is what sets them apart from the competition in their eyes. Custom orders force TP to work with their customers to ensure the expectations are met from start to finish.

Thomas believes that the positive community culture within Timber Products also contributes to their success. They have a relatively low turnover rate and regard themselves as a very family-focused business. They take the time to get to know all their employees, trying to determine the strengths and weaknesses of each employee. After completing their due diligence, the management team of Timber Products attempts to find the right role for each employee. As Thomas told us, "getting the right person in the right seat, has been vital to our success." They take care of their employees, and in turn, their employees take care of their customers.

In Conclusion

Timber Products' reputation and longevity make them an easy choice within the wood product industry. According to Thomas, they’ll “deliver what [you] want, when [you] want it.” The reliability, consistency, and track record of this company are sensational. They’ll work with you to resolve any issues so that you’re happy with the final product, every time.
